Il Caggio

You will find our estate about 7 km up the hill from San Gimignano in beautiful natural surroundings. The name is of Longobardian origin and means "fortified place".In fact long ago a well protected salt route passed through the area. This very place has been dwelled in since etruscan times and apart from an etruscan tomb,the oldest building on the farm was built in the year 1200. The estate comprises 250 acres of predominantly wood land and is situated in a nature reserve. You can go for long walks under the shadowy trees of the forest; you will find falcon and eagle nesting,you can observe muflon,stag and deer and at dawn wild boar and porcupine wander near by. The splendid silence at night is sometimes interrupted by nightigales,when the numerous glow worms are twinkling in rivalry with the clear sky. Lisa and Kurt with passion and exquisite taste have transformed this part of wilderness into a place of rare though simple Tuscan beauty.

During your vacation at Il Caggio, relaxing by the pool or under the shade of ancient oaks, walking or discovering the nature reserve on horse back, you will enjoy the best that Tuscany can offer. Our farmhouse vacation accomodation offers one holiday cottage La Torre and three holiday flats La Cantinetta,Il Focolare, and Il Granaio. They are beautifuly restored and furnished with a mix of antique and moder pieces. Each with a kitchenette,a separate entrance and private garden with garden furniture. Available to all our guests the mediterranean flora gardens and the swimming pool. Prices are inclusive of bed linen, table ware, towels, electricity, gas, water and final cleaning
