Where to park

For many years now the old town centre of San Gimignano has been a limited traffic zone (ZTL). Entry and parking is permissible only for residents and authorised persons. For tourists staying in the old town centre, access is permitted only for loading and unloading luggage and requires a permit from the hotel, the Municipal Police or the Tourist Office. Tourists are strongly recommended to park in the three public car parks outside the centre and then go on foot, or take the handy shuttle bus provided by the Administration. The ticket price is negligible.

For visitors booked into non-hotel accommodation in the old town centre, the shuttle bus from car park N.1 (Giubileo) is free of charge to reach your accommodation.

You are advised to use car park N.1 (Giubileo) in the southern zone of San Gimignano since it is the biggest, the cheapest and moreover constantly served by the shuttle bus. Even without an accommodation booking you can park in public car park N.1 (Giubileo) and take the shuttle which goes throughout the old town centre. The other public car parks, also served by shuttle buses, are N.2 (Montemaggio), in the lee of the walls just outside Porta San Giovanni (southern side) and car parks N.3 (Bagnaia) and N.4 (Bagnaia). These two adjacent car parks are located in the northern part of the town, near Piazza Sant'Agostino and the museum centre of the Conservatorio di Santa Chiara (Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery, the Spezieria di Santa Fina and the Archaeological Museum).

For accommodation in the countryside (holiday homes, holiday farms, rented rooms) there is normally private parking nearby.

TOURIST BUSES must pick up and let down at the Check Point near car park N.1. When passengers have alighted the driver will be shown where to park.
